Three generations, one family recipe

Our Story

From a roadside satay stall in 1970 to one of Miri’s best-loved family restaurants, this is the Madli’s journey.

Where it began

One man, one stall, one perfect recipe

In 1970, our grandfather Suut Bin Hassan began selling authentic traditional satay from a humble stall. His recipe was simple and uncompromising: good meat, a marinade built on patience, and real charcoal smoke.

Word spread the way it always does in Sarawak, one satisfied customer at a time. That little stall became the foundation of everything Madli’s is today.

The Journey

More than fifty years in the making

1970

Madli’s is born when grandfather Suut Bin Hassan starts selling authentic traditional satay from a stall, grilled over charcoal, served with his own peanut gravy.

October 1995

The family opens its first restaurant in Miri, Madli Satay & Food Corner - bringing the stall’s loyal following under one roof for the first time.

Today

Madli’s is a well-established, family-run restaurant on Jalan Merpati, respected for high-quality Halal food & drinks at reasonable prices. Beyond the traditional satay, the kitchen now serves an extensive menu of Malaysian, Asian & Western cuisine for dine-in, takeaway & catering events.

Still Family

The same fire, three generations on

Some things at Madli’s haven’t changed since 1970, the hand-made marinade, the peanut gravy recipe, and the belief that generous portions at fair prices never go out of style.

What has grown is the table: today you’ll find Sarawak laksa, mee kolok, nasi lemak pandan, kampung fried rice and Western grills alongside the satay that started it all. All halal, all cooked to order, all served with the warmth Miri knows us for.
